I'm tired. So very tired. Its all I can do to get up and move. I feel exhaused, all the way down to my bones. Its like my head is awake and alert, but my body is just run down. It feels like there is no energy in my body at all. I've never felt this exhausted, even when I was pregnant. Maybe its time to go to the doctor, perhaps I'm anemic again. Or maybe its the fact that my 11 month old doesn't sleep through the night. Maybe almost a year of poor sleeping is catching up with me. Either way, I feel like I need a day off just to sleep. Does anyone else ever get that way?
So many things to do today and only one thing on my mind....laying on the couch. Not in a lazy way, but in a "I think I've hit the brink of total exhaustion way". The prospect of the whole day before me seems overwhelming. I only have to make it until 4:10, when Jeff will walk through the front door and I can finally fall asleep without worrying about what the boys are doing. That is something I am very grateful for...my husband...for the fact that he gets home from work so early....for the fact that he understands I've been run down lately....for everything he is.
Well, its time to put my game face on and try to get as much done as I can! Carson is already wanting to go outside and dig at the toys, and Jonas is ready for his morning bath and a diaper change. Welcome to motherhood, the most challenging job there is.

Walking
Jonas has been doing a lot better with his walking the past few days. He is still hesitant to just take off on his own and do it. I think that crawling is just more convenient for him right now. However, he can walk and stand by himself! And for the record, I'm going to call him a 10 month walker as he is technically still 10 months for a few more days. Day at the Zoo
We went and got our Zoo passes for the year and had fun hanging out with the animals today. Its been years since I've been to the Hogle Zoo!
Motherhood
Today I'm feeling especially grateful for the amazing experience of having children...for the wonderful medical technology that saved Carson's life and has allowed me to birth children, even if my body doesn't like to do it naturally.

This morning I walked into my boys' room while they were both still asleep, just to look at them. I do this from time to time and everytime it amazes me that they are mine. I look from one sleeping face to the other and just think, "Wow, they are here because of me! (and of course their dad, I can't forget his important contribution!)" They are so precious. So innocent. So pure. And just like their father, they are mine forever. It makes me proud to be their mother. To be a mother. There is no experience, travel, or worldly fame that could take the place of my most sacred calling. There is nothing I'd rather be doing with my life right now than being a mother. From the first time I felt them move inside of me to the late nights calming an upset child, motherhood really is an amazing thing. I'm so thankful I am able to spend my days with these little angels. With the coming of my precious little guys, I have had to say goodbye to my obsessive clean freakish ways. Many times Jeff will come home to a house where the dishes aren't done and the laundry still needs to be folded, but those are the days where we've either played hard or cried hard. Why would I rather be out in the work force and miss these precious moments? Like the first steps Jonas took the other day. Or going to observe Carson at his preschool to see how he handles this new adventure in his life.

Easter Weekend
Last Wednesday I took the boys up to Idaho. We had tons of fun visiting with family and friends. We spent a day in Rexburg and got to play with our cousins and then go visit our good friends the Tietjens. Being in Rexburg made me feel like we had never left and made our life in Utah seem so foreign to me...does that make sense to anyone? Anyways, Jonas even got his very first haircut on Friday and got rid of his Conan O'Brian hair do. I also got a haircut and opted for some bangs this time; I'm not so sure if I like them or not. 
Saturday was Brylee's blessing. She is such a beautiful little girl and a nice addition to the family. It was a fun day to spend with family. Later that day the kids had fun dying eggs and having an Easter Egg hunt.
After the blessing, we went to a Graduation party for Matt Milner, one of our good BYU-I buddies. It was nice to catch up with old friends, even though it really did make me homesick. Carson got to see the Milner's dog, Wrigley, and instantly fell in love with him. Now he says he wants "a boxer dog and one like Wrigley". Here we are with the Milners and the Marshalls. We got to see the Marshall's new baby Sophie-she is such a cutie! Both Matt and Steve just graduated--good luck to both of them in their job hunts!!! Good times, good memories.

We celebrated Easter morning at Grandma and Grandpa's house. The Easter Bunny sure did spoil my little guys with lots of presents.
We even caught a glimpse of the Easter Bunny in Grandma's back yard as he was leaving! Carson was the one who spotted him first.

So what did you do for FHE last night?? Last night our family...
OFFICIALLY SIGNED THE CONTRACT TO START BUILDING OUR NEW HOME!!!!
I am happy to report that our home search is over and we feel so very blessed to have been given such an awesome opportunity to have a brand new home. We literally have been watched over and led to where we need to be. For the past four months I have toured countless homes in the Salt Lake Valley...all of them old fixer-uppers and in my opinion way over priced. Then we broadened our search down to Utah County and found out that we could build a new home for the same price we could purchase a fixer upper. The commute is only 13 minutes longer for Jeff, so it seemed like a good option. The best part? I get to pick out everything...all the colors and styles. We also got a "signing bonus" of all around stucco, rock on the front, and full AC. Here is the elevation of our new home. We could only afford to go with elevation 1, but that is because we are pouring a full basement underneath.
Here is the lot where our future home will be. We got lucky here. It is 500 square feet bigger than the surrounding lots and it was the same price.

Our view back towards Draper and Point of the Mountain. This is the direction our house will face....and it is one of the main reasons I liked the lot...so I could look back towards Salt Lake Valley, which I will miss. But we really aren't that far away--literally just past Point of the Mountain.
If all goes well we should be able to start digging the hole in two weeks. The house isn't set to be completed until August.

Family Time
Our Conference weekend started out with a sleep over party on Friday night, complete with pizza, an air mattress and movies! Braydon and Alex came over to watch Bolt and we stayed up late waiting for Grandma and Grandpa Birch to come. The boys had a hard time getting to sleep because they were super excited to see Grandpa and Grandma, so we watched another movie--Kung Fu Panda.
After breakfast Saturday morning, Marcy and I went to Tai Pan Trading and had tons of fun looking around. Its a huge store and we only made it around the perimeter before we had to hurry home to watch Conference. I purchased this cute little bird while we were there.
Between sessions Kris, Marcy, and I dropped the boys off at a babysitter and went shopping out at Jordan Landing. Jeff and Wynn went to go look for an electric motor. After the second session of Conference we drove out to Eagle Mountain to show Wynn and Marcy around. Our drive ended up taking too long and the guys weren't able to make it back in time for Priesthood. So we went out to dinner at Joe's Crab Shack. I wish I would have had my camera because Carson and Jonas had such a good time. Carson laughed when they put a bib on Jeff. I found out that Carson loves crab...he forgot all about his hamburger and fries and went to sit by Jeff and eat crab legs.
I had to get a picture of Jonas and Grandpa together because everyone says they look alike. What do you think?

Quilting
Some of you may know that my Aunt has commissioned me to make a keepsake quilt. I've been getting everything prepped and ready to go on it, but I have been a little nervous about actually putting it together as it has many cherished items that will go into it. I've been feeling a little rusty as I haven't sewn for over a month, so last night I decided I would get some practice time in before I tackled her quilt. I'd rather mess up on something of my own rather than someone else's project! I stayed up until 1 AM, and here is the result...

...an almost finished top to my Wallflower quilt. I just need to put the border on and then blanket stitch around all the applique, but that will have to wait because I'm now feeling confident enough to get sewing on that other quilt! However, with family in town for the weekend, it might be Monday before I get started...I'll have to post some pictures of that one when I get it done. Its a different kind of quilt, one I haven't done before and I'm excited for the challenge.
