Christmas Day

I can hardly believe that we are nearing the end of January, and I haven't even had time to post about our Christmas.

Christmas morning, we were awakened at 6:00 by a very excited Carson coming into our room and exclaiming, "Santa brought me a BB gun! Is that okay Dad?"  Jeff had been telling Carson for the past month that he couldn't have a BB gun, so Carson was very worried that Daddy would be mad that Santa had brought one anyway.  Jeff responded with a "Santa left you what?!" I'm pretty sure Jeff was okay with it though:).

This was the first year that we've had a child wake up early and excited. We told Carson that he had to wait for his brothers to get up before he could open his presents.  Meanwhile, Jeff and I got our traditional Christmas morning breakfast ready: sticky buns and hot chocolate. Soon Jonas and Mason were awake and excited to see what Santa brought them.

We let the boys open their presents, and tried to take turns this year to make it last a little longer, but that's a very hard thing to do with such small children!

Porter woke up awhile later and looked very confused when I brought him into the living room. He soon discovered it was fun to rip open packages!

He was so excited for his car!

This Elephant from Grandma and Grandpa Larsen ended up being a favorite toy!

The aftermath...

After we'd had breakfast and cleaned up the mess, Carson and Jeff went to shoot the BB gun.  They got back just in time for Jeff's sister and her boys to arrive.  The boys spent the afternoon playing with their cousins, eating goodies, and watching Madagascar 3.

The rest of Jeff's family arrived later that evening for Christmas dinner. I count it as a blessing that most of Jeff's siblings have moved to Utah as well.  It makes it nice to have family close by.  After dinner we exchanged presents and again made a huge mess of the living room.  It was an absolutely perfect day!

Christmas

Another Christmas has come and gone.  I am continually amazed by how quickly the holiday season seems to fly. Each year, Christmas becomes more anticipated and more exciting at our home.  As the boys get older, and start to understand the wonder of the holiday season, it makes Christmastime even more special.

This year was spent at home.  Grandma Larsen came to visit us for the holiday and arrived on Christmas Eve.  We spent Christmas Eve doing our traditions:  Chicken Noodle Soup, a Christmas movie, reading of the Nativity, and setting out cookies for Santa.

When the boys awoke around 6 AM Christmas morning, they could hardly contain their excitement to run to the living room to see what Santa had left.  And he didn't disappoint! A new wiggle car for Mason, a GI Joe and large tank for Carson, and a T-Rex and set of Dinosaur Train tracks for Jonas.

After presents, a traditional breakfast of Sticky Buns and chocolate milk.

Then a beautiful Sacrament Meeting.

Followed by a Christmas dinner at our house with Jeff's two sisters and their families, and Jeff's step-dad.

A perfectly marvelous day.
