Memorial Day Drive

Today we went up Alpine Canyon by Mount Timpanogos. The exciting part was that we actually found a dirt road to turn off on and explore! Everytime we've tried to go "into the mountains" we've only found paved roads that end in fancy ski resorts--not exactly what we were looking for. So it was fun to see how excited Jeff became when we finally found a dirt road. It took us up three miles of winding, narrow switch backs to a place called Silver Lake. Here was the view from the road...the back side of Mount Timpanogos. When we finally reached the top Carson jumped out of the truck and declared, "I want to pee on a tree!" Here he is by the tree he marked...TMI? Probably.

Then we had a picnic out of the back of the truck. Jonas refused to wake up to enjoy the lake, I'm pretty sure it has something to do with him being crabby from cutting more teeth. By the way, doesn't Carson look so big? This kid is getting so tall.

Carson and Grandma
Then Jeff and Carson sat back and soaked up the sun.
After we left Silver Lake we stopped at Tibble Creek Reservoir. Jonas finally decided to wake up. Here he is on top of the dam, trying to reach the grass. I think its cute how excited the boys get when they are in the mountains. I foresee lots of camping trips in my future!
It was such a fun day and I was so glad we were finally able to get away from the city for awhile.
