After a long morning: Here he is sleeping in his bed, awww, so precious. Yes that is underwear in his bed with him. He got new Spiderman underwear at Wal-Mart today and just had to snuggle with them to go to sleep.

Patience to deal with my blessings...
So I am borrowing a phrase I got off of Deanna's blog. Boy do I need patience today to deal with my little two year old blessing. I thought it was going to be a good day because he slept in until 8:45 and I was able to get a ton of stuff done before he woke up. It all started when I turned off Sesame Street. I told Carson he was only able to watch one cartoon today and that is the one he picked. When it was over I went to the TV and shut it off...that's when the category 5 tatrum started. He started hitting me, which is a big no-no in our house (both for Carson and Mommy & Daddy), so he was sent to sit on his time out X. He refused to go (of course) so I took him over and made him sit down. Then he proceeded to spit and hit at me some more, so I decided to restrain his hands. He was screaming at the top of his lungs, "Mommy let go! Give me my hands!!" At this point I am sure all of our neighbors are hearing what is going on and are thinking I am some horrible mother. I used a technique I learned in preschool and kept telling him over and over, "Your hands are being naughty right now so I need to hold them. When they decide to be nice again, I will let them go." Finally I felt on the verge of really getting angry so I just walked away and went to sit in the chair in my room. He followed after me and just kept screaming. At that point I had no idea what to do. Eventually he calmed down and I decided that we both needed to get out and enjoy some sunshine. So we went to Wal-Mart and he was actually well behaved. Since he was so good at Wal-Mart I decided to stop by Porter's on my way home and see if I could find some crafty thing to do. He was pretty good until it was time to go and he did NOT want to go home. At the checkout line he proceeded to start knocking things over and fuss over having to go home. Soon after we got home he fell asleep (answer to prayers). Looking at him when he is so peaceful and quiet asleep makes me feel so sad that I was frustrated with him. Oh well, I am learning how to be a mother and can't expect to be perfect.
Carson's Time Out X: It is definately better than sending him to his room so he can play with his toys!

It must be something in the water because Peter had a major melt down today too! He had an attitude all morning and then threw a tantrum when I tried to leave my mom-in-laws house after class. He cried for an hour after I got him home. He sat at his door and cried! But then he calmed down and took a nap! Hurray! You are not a horrible mom! I'm starting to realize we are all normal but have horrible moments!
I think that it is the age. Keegan is going through a horrible time of throwing temper tantrums. I think that it is typical of all two year olds to do things like that. I like the time out X I use it with my kids and it works. You are not a horrible mom.
I am right there with you Sara as I talked to you about how naughty Chandler was today with the marker, lol. You are so good at reinforcing things with Carson though. That's something I need to work on. Sorry it was a rough day for the two of you. Gotta savor the naps!
I can totally understand. When Tanner's finally settled down, and 'normal' again, I feel bad that I got frustrated with him. We're all learning, aren't we?
I like your time-out X. Awesome idea!
