The Prophet Said to Plant a Garden

Okay, I know that I've been cluster posting lately, but that's what happens when I have lots to do, little time to blog, and several things I want to post about!

We finally planted our garden on Monday for FHE. I know, we are way late, but better late than never, right? We've been busy focusing on getting our sprinkler system in, the sandbox finished, and our yard planted, so the garden was put on the back burner. Finally on Saturday, we were able to get out and till up our garden area. Yep, we did it the old fashioned way with garden hoe's...we just couldn't justify renting a tiller when a little elbow grease would do the trick. After we dug up our dirt (which is way rocky), we hauled in some nicer dirt and then we added in a few bales of peat moss. As you may be able to see in the picture, there are string lines laid out to mark off our property line and where the garden will go....that's what happens when you are married to a landscape designer. If it was up to me I would have been like,"Yeah, over there looks good, lets go dig it up."

Monday night I did a lesson based on President Benson's talk Prepare for the Days of Tribulation and then we went outside and planted our garden. Its not much, but hopefully this Fall we will have: butternut squash, pumpkins, carrots, peas, corn, chives, and cilantro...and hopefully more in years to come.
There really is something satisfying about getting out and digging in the dirt and striving to become more self sufficient!
