Our Summer-Part 2

I finally got a few extra minutes to finish our blog about what happened this summer.

In early July I came home from class to find my mother (who was babysitting Carson) outside my apartment talking to some guy on a motorcycle. When I pulled up, she told me that Jeff had been in a car accident and we had to pick him up. The guy on the motorcycle was someone that worked with Jeff and had come to my apartment because I wasn't answering my phone-- it was on silent because I was in class. I was told that Jeff was okay, but the front of his truck was smashed. Apparently, some lady had pulled out in front of him in an intersection. Bad news for her, it crunched her brand new Malibu. So we drove down the road where I saw the intersection blocked off and Jeff's truck loaded on the back of a tow truck. After talking to the police they let me go out in the middle of the road to talk to Jeff. I was so thankful that he was alright. By the looks of his truck I was sure that they weren't going to total it, but it turned out that it was more expensive to fix it, so they gave us an awesome settlement-- two thousand dollars more than we were thinking of selling it for. I told Jeff that this wasn't the ideal way to get a new truck, since he had been talking about it for some time.

On July 18 I graduated from BYU-Idaho. It's tradition that you walk with your teaching methods class the semester before you student teach, since it is the last time you are on campus. It was such an awesome experience and so rewarding after all the hard work.

On July 23 Carson turned two years old! I couldn't believe that my screaming little newborn had turned into a screaming little two year old! We had his birthday part at the clubhouse because we had invited a lot of people. Turns out that everyone had a reason not to come that night so we only had a few people show up. Among those were two of Carson's friends, Peter and Chandler. Carson has known Peter since he was born and they have played together ever since. Carson met Chandler when we moved to the Village and have become fast friends. One of their favorite past times is tormenting their mothers during Sacrament Meeting.

In late July Jeff and I decided that it was time to get out of Rexburg! We wanted to go somewhere like Vegas or South Dakota, but after looking at our budget we decided it would set us too far back. So we decided to go somewhere both of us hadn't been for a while...Yellowstone. We spent the whole day enjoying the park. We were able to see some cool exhibits like the Artist's Paint Pots, Mammoth Springs, and Old Faithful. I didn't realize that seeing the park with Jeff would mean hiking! We took a hike partway up a hill to the Artist's Paint Pots. I loved the "glop, glop" noise they made. The only problem was I didn't think about my sulfa allergy and I started to break out in a rash when we were up by the pots. Luckily, it went away when we got back to the car. Jeff really wanted to see Mammoth Hot Springs so we drove all the way up to the north part of the park. He made me hike all the way down the mountain to look at them, and then all the way back up! Both him and Carson loved hiking, I guess Mommy needs to find more enthusiasm for it! At the end of the day we went to Old Faithful. When we first got there we went straight to the gift shops to use the bathroom and get ice cream cones. We then walked out to the geyser thinking that we'd probably just look at it and wouldn't get to see it erupt. But just as we were walking up to it, it went off. I loved Carson's expression and his comment, "Water go high up!" It was such an enjoyable day!

I have a confession to make! Matt and I actually saw Jeff in that accident - we drove through the intersection (what seemed like) a few minutes after it happened. I wanted to be a hero and call you and the bishop, but Matt convinced me not to overreact...so it's his fault! lol :-)
