Quilt

Tonight I was able to put the finishing touches on my Wallflower quilt. It feels good to get a project done...well almost done. I have yet to quilt it. In the past I've always taken my quilts to a quilter to get them done. The problem this time is 1) I don't know a quilter down here 2) My budget won't allow for me to pay to get it done and 3) After reading so many quilt blogs I'd love to learn how to stipple for myself. I've read a few tutorials on stippling, but my problem is that I am the type of person that likes to see it done first hand and have someone there to coach me as I'm doing it. Ideally, it would be great to find someone who would be willing to stipple it and teach me at the same time...

So I don't know what I'm going to do, but I am hoping a solution presents itself soon because I am dying to snuggle up on my couch in my new quilt!

SUUUUUUUPER CUTE!!!

Stipling is SO easy. :) Just make sure you have a darning foot on and your feed-dogs down. Practice on a smaller quilt (to get tension and speed down)...like one for a doll...but then maybe your boys don't have a doll...anyways, do a practice run.

I REALLY like to use a quilter's spray adhesive on the batting to hold the front and back to the batting...it makes it SO much easier. Start from a central place (or strip) and move outwards. I like to save my borders for last. One thing I learned the hard way, is to leave your back & batting about 2-4 inches longer than your front all the way around. Then you have something to hold onto. :)

I'd totally do it for you for a couple of bucks ($40) but I'm swamped. There are TONS of quilters down in Utah! My dad's cousin owns the Cornwagon in Springville, if you're willing to make the drive. They do BEAUTIFUL work.

Another thing I learned the hard way: Unless you have a long-arm quilting machine, anything bigger than a crib size is a little overwhelming and HUGE to manage...But I have done a twin size on a regular ole' machine...and you can tell. LOL!

Good luck!!! :) Once you start machine quilting, you'll be hooked (at least I was).

Totally cute! You are completely amazing! I wish that I was more confident and would even dream of attempting something like that!

Love the quilt. It looks like a fun project. Good luck with finishing it. Maybe I'll have to call Deanna up and have her teach me, it is something I have wanted to learn, also.
